My life is in God and for God
and I desire nothing else.
I
was born in the beautiful city of Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, Mexico, on
July 20, 1962. My father’s name is Rafael Garcia Moreno and
my mother’s is Carmen Santos de Garcia. There were 9 children
in my family: five brothers, and three sisters. I am the fifth child.
I studied for the most part with the Sisters Siervas de
Jesús Sacramentado. I always felt attracted by religious
life and the desire to serve God. When I finished ninth grade, I
requested to enter in the convent of the Sisters where I was studying,
but I was told that I was very young and that I should continue to
study and enter later on. I studied a short career as an executive
secretary and I worked for few years as such, but inside my heart the
desire for religious life was continuous. When I was in third semester
of superior studies, I met Sister Therese Reyes, member of our
community here in Amarillo and she invited me to join the
community.
I
felt that God filled me with his grace and granted my wish. My parents
always supported me in my desire to became a religious. I arrived in
Amarillo, Texas, on February 08, 1984 and initiated my Postulancy on
February 19, 1984 and the Novitiate on October 04, 1984. I pronounced
my first Vows on January 25, 1986 on the Feast of the conversion of
Saint Paul; my sponsors were the Steele Family, residents of Amarillo,
Texas. My solemn perpetual Vows took place on December 11, 1988. I am
the first vocation of this community of Capuchin Poor Clares of
Amarillo, Texas. Our community will celebrate its 25th Anniversary of
Foundation next year, August 15, 2006.
My
community has given me the opportunity to in it as a secretary,
treasurer, cooker, formation mistress for postulants and novices and as
vocational promoter. I am grateful to God and to my community for the
opportunities given to me for my personal development. I studied a
short computer course and finished GED. These studies were done at the
Amarillo Collage Community Link. I became American citizen last
year.
I
live happy in the vocation given to me by God, as a Capuchin Poor Clare
Sister. For the grace to have the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
and to be able to pray for all the intentions entrusted to our prayers.
My motto is” My life is in God and for God and I
don’t desire it for anything else”.
With
love and gratitude, your Capuchin Sister,
Sister Maria Margarita de
Jesús García Santos.
